Ruben is the owner and president of VLS! With over 20 years of experience working with the legal community both in San Diego and abroad, one of the main reason Ruben started VLS was to be able to have the ability to provide individualized service to each of his clients based on their specific needs or requirements. His goal is to continue to provide that unique individualized service while also being to maintain one-on-one relationships with current and new clients. His goal isn’t to be the largest legal service provider, but definitely be the best! When Ruben isn’t at work, you can find him playing basketball, hiking, or traveling.

Office Manager

Kiersten is the office manager here at VLS. She and Ruben have worked as colleagues for nearly 20 years now. Her experience in a variety of aspects of the legal industry make her a key ingredient at VLS! Kiersten was basically raised in the legal industry with her father who worked as an attorney and her mother a paralegal. Kiersten always knew she wanted to work in the legal industry and is passionate about her work, research, and clients.

When Kiersten is not working, you can find her with her family and friends exploring the outdoors, going star-gazing, camping, hiking, or painting!

Court Services Department

Arianna (Ari as we call her) heads up our court services department here at VLS and has been with VLS since 2017. Ari is an absolute wizard when it comes to court filings and court research! She has become our client’s go-to person for all court-managements needs! Every year, you can find Ari in cosplay at Comic Con. Ari is a huge cat lady and has 4 cats! In her spare time, she also plays the ukulele and is very talented!

Reprographics and Records Department

Melissa Peraza has been with VLS since 2018. Melissa is an integral part of our document management department. Melissa has extensive experience with a wide variety of programs and software that allow our company to provide for each client’s individual document management needs. She has been exceedingly helpful in this department and all around. When Melissa is not at working, you can find her at concerts, beauty events, or with family.

Records Request Manager

Kimberly (Kim) is the Records Request Manager with VLS. She manages with a cup of coffee in one hand and a diet soda in the other. She has two little kids, and needs that extra jolt of caffeine!

On the weekends she spends time with her husband and kids as they are often found at the Balboa Park Museums, out hiking, or enjoying one of the many playgrounds San Diego has to offer. She loves to read and many weekends she gets up early to snag a few chapters in the most recent book on her list.

Los Angeles/Orange County Representative

Mario Hernandez is one of the most recent members of our team, but is absolutely a class-A provider to our clients. In less than a year, he has surpassed our company’s expectations as a representative in Los Angeles and Orange County. His interests include watching baseball (Go Padres!), hanging out at the beach, and just generally being outdoors with family.

Service of Process/Court Representative

Liz joined Vanguard in 2020. Coming with experience working with her grandmother’s law firm, Liz has brought in her own accent to Vanguard. Liz works primarily with Kiersten assisting with service of process as well as other administrative needs. Additionally, she helps with service of process in the San Diego area, along with court filings and research. In Liz’s spare time, she is an artist who crochets and crafts…and collects tarantulas as pets (no joke…she has 10 of them!)

Photocopy Department Services

Sandra is the newest member of the VLS team photocopy records department. She comes from over 20 years experience in the Customer Service field making her a perfect fit to contact and work with Facilites to provide records. She is also working on her bachelors in paralegal studies! Her non-work days are filled with fostering dogs, enjoying the company of her own pets, and spending as much time with her loved ones as possible. She was born and raised out in the desert (4th generation!) and wouldn’t trade it for the world. Her hometown is still one of her favorite places.
Penny Ledoux

Photocopy Department Services

Penny began with VLS in 2016. Like Kiersten, Penny comes with a lot of experience from working in the legal industry in the courts as well as in the attorney support industry. Her friendly demeanor and professionalism with health care facilities, and various locations we subpoena on our client’s behalf have culminated in countless integral relationships that have enabled us to streamline the document-request department. When Penny is not working, she loves being outdoors and spending time with her family.
